Codex Thread Toolkit

A toolkit of simple skills for improving thread and workspace management in Codex until these capabilities are officially added to the application.

Skills

1. thread-workspace-relink

Relink Codex thread workspace paths after folder moves/renames, with dry-run, backup, apply, and verification. In other words, move agent chats between projects.

Installation

Copy the skills/thread-workspace-relink folder into your Codex skills directory.

Usage

1. Simply invoke the skill by asking your agent to:

   Move chat X to project Y using $thread-workspace-relink.

2. After this completes, restart the Codex app to refresh sidebar grouping.

Troubleshooting

• If output shows state_db.dbs: 0, ask the agent to:

  Run diagnostics using $thread-workspace-relink and show the diagnostic output.

• For a one-shot exhaustive check across sqlite_home/CODEX_SQLITE_HOME and all local *.sqlite/*.db candidates:

  Run deep diagnostics using $thread-workspace-relink and show the diagnostic output.

Safety

• The relink script updates only structured cwd surfaces.
• It creates a timestamped backup under ~/.codex/path_rename_backup_* before writes.
